Lee Stacey
Managing Director of McGowan Insurance
About Me
Lee M. Stacey is the Managing Director of McGowan Insurance, a full-service
commercial property & casualty insurance brokerage and advisory firm located
in Cleveland, Ohio. A 30-year veteran of the commercial insurance space, he
has held positions in the industry of increasing responsibility over the past 3
decades in roles ranging from production underwriter, client advocate, sales
manager, to executive leadership/ownership positions with full P&L responsibility
for firms that were publicly held, private-equity-owned, and private firms. His
clients have ranged from large public F50 firms to large middle-market firms
in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, service organizations, large
non-profits, emerging technologies, and real estate, amongst others. Lee’s
hallmark in the industry is to surround himself with staff smarter than himself,
and to always under-promise and over-deliver – while consistently embracing a
high level of transparent communication with his clients, staff, and underwriters
of commercial risk.
Lee has a BBA from Grand Valley State University, an MBA in Finance from
the University of Detroit, and postgraduate credits at the Wharton School at
the University of Pennsylvania through the Executive Education Program at
the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB). He holds the following
professional designations: Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Risk
Manager (CRM), Certified Workers Compensation Professional (CWCP), and
Certified Program Leader (CPL).
Lee has been married for 28 years to Nicole, and they have two adult children.
He sits on the Board of Directors for the Cleveland Yacht Club and is active
with several veterans charities, including as an advisory board member with
the Special Operations Transition Foundation (SOTF), which focuses on securing
civilian employment for mid-career, separating special operations soldiers (Green
Berets, SEALs, and Rangers) as they transition to civilian life and employment.
He is a proud veteran of the US Army’s 1st Airborne Ranger Battalion.
