Leonne (Leona) Philippen, PhD
Associate Partner in McKinsey’s Operations Practice
About Me
Leonne is an Associate Partner in McKinsey’s Operations Practice based in McKinsey’s Washington DC, office. She specializes in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices industries, priorly serving clients in the Energy industry. Over the past 6+ years, she has served leading PharmaCos, Biotechs, Medical Device, and major Energy clients in projects concerning manufacturing and operations transformations, organization design, sourcing/procurement, and operations strategy.
In addition, she’s very passionate about volunteering as a career mentor for Special Ops veterans, starting with American Corporate Partners from 2019 – 2023 and subsequently with the Special Operators Transition Foundation since 2022. Growing up less than one mile from the only American WWII Cemetery in the Netherlands, which is the final resting place of over 8,200 American soldiers (close to the German and Belgian borders), her appreciation for the US and its military has always been strong. To honor their sacrifices and give back to the country that has been home since 2014, she has directly mentored and coached over 20 US veterans, helping them find their passion and be successful post their military careers.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Leonne worked as a Postdoctoral Associate researching the application of CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technology to treat cardiac arrhythmia at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, from 2014 – 2016.
Leonne has a Doctorate in Molecular Biology from Maastricht University, the Netherlands, and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (Summa Cum Laude) from Utrecht University, the Netherlands.
